Tour
description
You
will be picked up from your accommodation in Trieste
at 9.00 a.m. to start a wonderful day out exploring
two enchanting towns on the Slovenian coast: Piran
and Portoroz. A leisurely drive will first take us
to Piran, a charming citadel located at the tip of
a peninsula which is the westernmost part of Slovenia.
You can explore the town on foot or by bike, pedalling
through its medieval narrow streets, Venetian-style
buildings, marble squares and tight houses which rise
in steps from the coastal lowland into the hills giving
the whole area a typical mediterranean look. Piran
is also the birthplace of the famous baroque violinist
and composer Giuseppe Tartini whose music is still
echoing in the winding streets of this beautiful coastal
town. Only 2 km. from Piran is Portoroz, the most
popular and lively Slovenian tourist centre on the
coast with a lovely French and Italian Riviera atmosphere.
Developed as a spa resort in the 19th century due
to its mild climate, clean air and water and successful
treatments with salt water and mud, today it's also
an attractive sports and entertainment centre that
can be visited in every season of the year. Don't
forget your swimming suit … there's a beach stop and
a relaxing swim in the clear and warm waters of the
Adriatic included … (in summer only)!
