The most effective way of learning or improving the knowledge
of a foreign language and culture is by studying it in the
country in which it is spoken.
For this reason, Discover Friuli, with the collaboration
of a dynamic and qualified Italian language school, offers
you the opportunity of combining a pleasant and relaxing
vacation in one of Italy's most beautiful regions with the
rewarding and creative activity of studying the Italian
language, in touch with true Italian life, people, traditions
and local events.
We offer two, three and four week intensive courses
of grammar and conversation at different levels: beginners,
intermediate and advanced. Classes, small (limited
to maximum 8 students) and informal, allow for individual
attention, constant student-teacher interaction and a relaxed
and friendly atmosphere. Individual and small
group lessons are also available as well as classes
on specific topics such as business, literature, art and
history, cooking, tourism, etc.
Lessons are taught by qualified, mother-tongue teachers,
specialised in teaching Italian to foreigners. In addition
to lessons on grammar, vocabulary and syntax, great emphasis
is also given to conversation. Teachers will guide students
through group discussions, simulations of real-life situations,
conversations about current events so that they can become
gradually familiar with the Italian language and be able
to rapidly sustain a conversation or achieve greater fluency.
Besides lessons in class, which generally take place in
the morning from 9.00 am to 1.00 pm, Monday though Friday,
we also offer cultural excursions to the numerous
sites of historical and cultural interest in the region
and surrounding areas, including Venice, Austria, Slovenia,
Croatia … located one one-hour drive away. Wine tours and
tastings in the renowned Collio and Colli Orientali wine
districts, visits to farmhouses and cheese factories with
sampling of typical Friulian products, visits to local shops,
workshops and markets are also planned.
Classes are generally held at the school, located
in the heart of Udine, within walking distance of the
train station. However, upon request and for pre-arranged
groups, courses can also take place in other interesting
locations: in beautiful farmhouses in the Friulian countryside,
among hills and vineyards, in charming buildings of historical
towns, etc. This way participants have the opportunity of
being in direct contact with and fully immersed in the social
and cultural life of their hosting country.
