LOCATION
Experience a special week or weekend cooking with Rosina
and Licia in Cividale and Udine, two of the most characteristic and
historical towns of Friuli, only about one-hour drive
from Venice.
Founded by Julius Caesar in 54 b.C., Cividale is truly an
enchanting little gem in the region's eastern foothills,
known for its famous Devil's Bridge, mysterious Celtic Hypogeum,
ancient Lombard Temple as well as its lively atmosphere
that you can breathe strolling around the narrow cobble
stone streets leading to the enchanting Main Square. Cividale
is also the capital of the Colli Orientali wine district,
and therefore well known for its top wines, great food (Gubana
is a delicious local speciality, a type of strudel with
apples, pine seeds, raisins and grappa) and close position
to the finest wine cellars of the region!
Located at the center of the Friulian plains, Udine is a charming little city with a distinctive Venetian flavor, which can be noted in the architecture and beautiful frescos housed in the most important buildings in town. The imposing castle on top of the town hill offers wonderful views over the city below, the surrounding countryside and the gorgeous Alps on the background.
COOKING LESSONS
Cooking classes
take place in the welcoming and equipped kitchens
of Rosina's and Licia's charming homes near the town centers.
All classes, limited to 8 participants, are hands-on and last approximately 3 hours, followed by lunch or dinner.
Meals feature foods prepared during class and consist of
three/four courses accompanied by local wines. Following
the true Italian way of eating, all meals are prepared using fresh ingredients and what is available in season.
COOKING TEACHERS
You'll cook with Rosina and/or Licia, two delightful ladies
and excellent home cooks that will teach you how to prepare
typical Italian and Friulian recipes.
Rosina began cooking at the age of 15, when she started
helping in the kitchen of her aunt's hotel-restaurant. Today
she is very passionate about sharing the many classic Italian
and traditional Friulian recipes passed down to her from
her family.
Rita is a self-taught, enthusiastic home cook with
formidable cooking abilities as she is able to combine fresh
ingredients, simple preparation and a harmonious blending
of ingredients to bring out the natural flavors of food.
ACCOMMODATION
Guests can stay at the charming B&Bs owned by the
cooks, or they can choose among a wide range of other accommodations
conveniently located in the towns of Cividale and Udine: 3*** or 4**** hotels, elegant apartments and antique palaces in the city center, lovely country houses and charming villas in the towns outskirts.
