A
tour of this charming hilltown overlooking the Friulian
countryside is a delightful experience for the eyes and
the taste!
Famous all over the world for its exquisite prosciutto,
whose genuine and special taste derives from the particular
"microclimate" of this area, San Daniele deserves a visit
also for its architectural beauty and environmental attractions.
Our tour begins with a stroll through the narrow picturesque
streets that lead to the historic center dominated
by the 17th century Cathedral filled with treasures
and the nearby Guarneriana Library, the oldest in
Friuli and among the first in Italy (visit subject to permission
by local authorities).
The square is the heart of the town and gets very
crowded and animated on market days and during "Aria di
Festa", the renowned ham festival that takes place every
year in August. For the pleasure of taste, our tour cannot
end without a visit to a prosciutto factory to fully enjoy
this delicious product, whose incomparable taste makes it
the most delicate in all of Italy!
