Considered one of the three premier wine regions of Italy,
Friuli is widely regarded as the home of Italy's best white
and dessert wines. This
tour combines two winemaking areas that are well known to
wine connoisseurs: Colli Orientali and the Collio,
which boast celebrities such as Tocai Friulano, Ribolla
Gialla and the rare Picolit. Chardonnay, Sauvignon and Pinot
grigio are also fine international varieties along with
some reds of excellent quality and taste such as Cabernet,
Schiopettino, Refosco, Merlot and the rare Pignolo.
Our tour starts in Udine itself, leaving the city to the
north in direction of Tarcento and Nimis, home of an elegant
and fragrant white dessert
wine (Ramandolo). We then proceed towards Cividale del
Friuli driving along a spectacular route, which runs
along excellent wine estates and beautiful castles. A stop
in this charming little city is a must, if only to taste
Gubana, a typical delicious dessert. Along the way a brief
diversion can be made south to Buttrio and Manzano
to reach some of the most prestigious wineries and enjoy
lunch in the wine lands surrounded by vineyards and tranquility.
In the afternoon we'll head to the Collio area driving through
the beautiful hilly countryside,
passing through Cormons to reach Capriva and finally
San Floriano del Collio, located on a hilltop.
During our day we'll visit several wineries: you will have
the opportunity to chat to the winemaker, walk through the
vineyards, learn more about the winemaking process and taste
lots of wine!
Join us for a day of fun and adventure that will leave you
filled with unforgettable memories!
